Scissors cuts paper and decapitates lizard but is destroyed by rock and is blocked by Spock. Lizard poisons Spock and eats paper, but is smashed by rock and is decapitated by scissors. Spock vaporizes rock and smashes scissors, however, is defeated by the paper and is poisoned by the lizard.

The RPSLS game has become so popular that it has now become a competitive sport with actual tournaments being held around the world. International contests feature players from different regions, where they compete in a variety of events including singles, teams, and doubles.
